Hi, my name is Jennifer and I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with my husband Kelly, and our male Rottweiler rescue named Chevy.
I have always been in love with animals, as I grew up on a farm, but
especially dogs and horses. I didn't grow up with big dogs, but for
some reason I always wanted one.
I can't remember when exactly I discovered the Rottweiler breed, or even why I wanted one so bad.
But, in the fall of 1994 my husband and I knew we needed a dog and started arguing over whether to get a German Shepherd (which is what he grew up with), or a Rottweiler (which is what I really wanted).
Well, come Christmas that year, he surprised me with a little 9-week old black & mahogany fur-ball that we named Savannah. Without going into too much detail, we fell madly in love with her, and consequently the Rottweiler Breed itself..
Since I didn't actually know much about Rottweilers at the time, I went on a mission to find out everything I could about them. I read almost every book ever written, and the more I learned, the more in-love I became.
Unfortunately in January of 2003, Savannah ruptured a disc in her back and was paralyzed.
Through the worst heart-ache my husband and I had ever experienced, we opted to let her go after spending more than $3000 on an emergency surgery that couldn't help her.
We were beyond devastated - she was literally our child.
Four'ish months after we lost Savannah, some friends kind of suckered us
into meeting a poor fella that had no name, no home, and was basically
in pretty bad shape both physically and mentally.
Well, he licked
my face and that's pretty much all it took. My husband and I weren't
in the best mental state either, so it ended up being a perfect match.
The Big Man Upstairs knew what he was doing when he put Chevy in our
path. He made us laugh for the first time in 4 months! He is quite the
clown.
He had so many issues, that it was a good year of very
hard work before he started to become the dog he is today. Of course I
wouldn't trade any of it for all the money in the world! You can
actually read Chevy's story on my Rottweiler Adoption page. Coming soon - You'll be able to share your own story and read other people's stories :0)
I have wanted to build a website all about Rottweilers since 2003 when I lost my Savannah girl. I tried a couple of times, but just didn't have the techie know-how, so I gave up.
Then a year ago or so, I decided that I needed to give it another try. With all the knowledge and experience I have gained with Savannah and then rescuing Chevy, I knew I needed a way to share it.
My goals for this website. . . . . .
Thanks so much for visiting LetsTalkRottweilers.com, I hope you find all the information you're looking for and find a community you can share with. If you're looking for something in particular and don't find it, please don't hesitate to contact me about anything, I'll help in any way I can!
