My Best Buddies

by Aaron

I was driving down a busy two lane road in April of 2007 when a puppy ran out in front of my truck.

I stopped, sat there for a minute, and when I was getting ready to drive forward I just happened to notice the person in the car coming the other way whom had also stopped was waving and yelling, "Don't move!"

I got out of my truck, and the pup, (guessing 4 months old) was laying in front of my front tire. She was fine, just relaxing.

I picked her up and put her in my lap in the truck. I pulled over and spent about an hour on both sides of the street knocking on doors but no one had ever seen her.

I took her home and started calling all places where anyone would look for their dog. I walked over to the vets office across the street from my house and talked to them. That's when I found out she was a full blooded American Rottweiler.

Not planning on keeping her at the time, we spent over a month looking for the owner. I got way too attached to her in that time and named her Roxie.

Almost five years later I have a bond with this dog that is unbelievable. We've even rescued another Rottie since then (male German Rottweiler), and his name is Angus.

They are the best dogs I've ever had.
