My crazy king Rottweiler puppy

I have a beautiful king Rottweiler dog, who joined our family in the spring of 2009 as an 8 week old puppy.
That summer was particularly hot, and in mid-July we were plunged into a heat wave. So on a beautiful summer day I decided to grab a popsicle from the freezer and started eating it. As I watched my 4 month old Rottie, Pisco, begging for part of it.
Wanting to please him, I handed him half of the popsicle, thinking that he would just bite a chunk off of it. But he grabbed half and walked away with all of it to my dismay!
I tried to approach him to remove the stick from his mouth. Fearing this, he opted to swallow the entire half with the remaining stick.
I went hysterical, not knowing what to do. I then tried calling several clinics to get advice on what to do. At the same time I was trying to reassure my puppy that every thing would be o.k.
I noticed that he soon knew that he had done something wrong and chose to lay down and not move. He had his face between the 2 front paws just starring at me.
After several attempts to join vet clinics in the neighborhood, all were on vacation but one, the 24 hour emergency clinic.
Me and Pisco rushed to the clinic by car, and We waited about 1 hour before we could finally see the veterinarian.
The only thing she said was that they needed to have Pisco stay over night and he would have an i.v. infusion and would be re-assessed in the morning to find out if the stick passed naturally.
If not, he would need to have surgery to remove it either from the stomach or the intestine, which ever the case.
However this was not an option for me because they wanted the money up front and I didn't have near the amount they were asking for.
I decided to return home helpless and not knowing what my next move would be, either find the money which was at least $2000, or hope for the best.
On my way back home I noticed from my rear view mirror that Pisco was sweating a lot and all of a sudden he through-up, and out came the popsicle stick on the back seat floor.
I was overwhelmed with joy!!!
