Let's Talk... Rottweiler Growth Chart

Rottie's aren't made from a cookie cutter

You came here looking for a Rottweiler growth chart, which means you want to make sure your pup is healthy. Just the right weight and just the right height!

Well, you can stop worrying and get the facts instead.  Just remember that this is an approximate Rottweiler puppy growth chart.

You'll want to take note of the wide gaps for each age. Your Rottie should be around the different ranges in the growth chart at a given age, but it is NOT absolute.

According to this Rottweiler growth chart, you might feel like your puppy is either under or over weight for her age. But, there are a couple of things to consider before you get too concerned.

  • All puppies are individuals, and just like people they grow and mature at different rates
  • Genetics play a role - how the puppies parents matured play a part in how their offspring mature, but even sibling’s can grow at totally different rates
  • Your breeder should have sent you home with information about the parents, and what you should likely see in your puppy’s growth

If your breeder didn’t give you any information, or you didn’t purchase from a reputable breeder, I strongly suggest contacting one in your area to ask questions if you’re really concerned.

Truly reputable Rottweiler breeders will be glad to answer questions from a new Rottie owner, even if you didn’t purchase your puppy from them. The reason for helping would be love and concern for the breed, instead of just greed.

If the information that you find on my site doesn’t put your mind at ease, then I always say go with your gut, and better safe than sorry. I suggest that you visit my page about Rottweiler Breeders, which will help you know what to look for in a reputable breeder, and contact one in your area. If they’re unwilling to talk to you, then do the following:

  • First, cross them off your list of where to purchase a puppy in the future
  • Second, let me know so that I can make a note who to not send people to
  • Third, contact a different one – even if they aren’t in your area (telephone’s stretch a long way)

Most Rottweiler’s height and weight will max out by the time they are 1 to 1 1/2 years old, which is when they look a little gangly, but they tend to really fill out width wise by the time they’re 2 to 2 ½ , and I have found from experience that they seem to get they’re brain around 3 years old :)

Please remember that just like a height / weight chart for humans, this Rottweiler growth chart is merely a guide. It should just be used to give you an idea what range you’re Rottie will likely fall into for a given age.
