Watcha got there?
Woo Hoo, just hav'n a li'l fun!
We rescued Roxy at the end of May 2011. This was our first dog, but we always knew we wanted a Rottie! Friends and family had them so we became familiar with the breed.
In the past year Roxy has changed so much. When she first came to us, she was quiet and wee'd a lot - we thought okay, she's probably nervous and still being young (she was 2 yrs old), and it was something she would grow out of.
Unfortunately she did not, and when we took her to the vets after 4 or 5 months, we were told she has a bladder issue which may be the result of her being spade. She would 'leak' all the time, and we would often come down in the mornings and she had wee'd in her bed.
The vet has given us incurin - this has worked wonders. It is a hormone tablet which tightens the muscles within the bladder. She started off with two a day but is now down to one. These have helped the issue so much and we never have problems like we did before, and Roxy is happier too!
Rescuing Roxy has been one of the best things we have done. She is the most adorable, loyal and protective little girl - stubborn as hell sometimes, but we love her so much and she is truly a member of our family.
Rotties have such a bad press and I would love to start a campaign to change peoples mind, to see Rotties as they really are instead of jumping to conclusions manipulated by the media.
I am not saying they can't be viscous, but like all dogs (and other animals) it is how they are treated that will influence their behaviour.
