Shredder The Future Rottweiler Service Dog
by Lima Peni
(Sydney Australia)
Hello, my Name is Shredder. People usually call me Red, especially when I am training, but I'm called The Shredder when I'm on guard at home.
Usually this is enough to keep away intruders. Shredder is also a character off a cartoon called The Teen Aged Mutant Ninja Turtles and he is a super villain.
My owner says that I've been specially bread to be a service dog and will receive further training very shortly. I am also a natural bob tail. This means that I have been born with a short one inch tail and I also have the DNA papers to show that I am a genetic carrier of this particular gene.
He also says that one of the other reasons I've been named Shredder is because as soon as I got out of my mothers belly, I proceeded to chew on anything and everything. I have been on guard duty ever since I was six months old and it hasn't been easy.
I've had hot liquid thrown on me and bricks thrown at my head also. My owner says he is very proud of me and that I will make an excellent service dog. My owner is visually impaired and he has always loved Rotties.
I also live with my friend Lex who helps me when I'm on guard. Lex is a Rottie cross lab and he is ten years old. I am twenty three months old. I have learned how to count up to five by tapping the ground with my paw and I can also remember the names of three different parks that I like to play at. If my owner takes me for a walk, he simply has to name one of the three parks when I get out of the gate and I'll be able to take him there.
My brothers and sisters and I were the first Rotties to be registered as being born with a natural bob tail in Australia, and we are a very proud breed.
As my owner/friend is visually impaired I will have to wait a little while before I can get photos, but I'm told that I'm a beautiful looking dog and all the classy ladies love me. I suppose that I'd better go for my daily exercise, so I'd better stop writing about myself.
Maybe I might be able to tell you more stories when I go for my training. First up is police dog and security training, then guide dog and service training. I hope you have liked hearing about my life and I hope that there are many more stories to come. Thank you for reading.
Sincerely yours, The Shredder.
